Claire is a Wiltshire based mixed media artist whose practice explores, memory, myth and landscape that holds traces left by human presence. Living close to the ancient ceremonial landscapes of Avebury and Stonehenge, she draws inspiration from histories and myths embedded in the land. In this series, her work combines collage, texture and precious metals to create contemporary compositions that evoke excavation, repair and renewal.

Earlier in her career, Claire travelled extensively, creating murals and decorative commissions, experiences that developed her confidence with scale, colour and surface. Her current practice marks a quieter more reflective direction, investigating ideas of thresholds, liminal spaces and impermanence. Through layered material and mark making she invites viewers to pause and consider the spaces they inhabit, the memories they are creating and the importance of leaving a light footprint for future generations.

'Threshold 1' explores landscape as a palimpsest, where traces of human presence, memory and time are layered upon one another. Inspired by the ancient landscapes surrounding Avebury and Stonehenge, this mixed media work combines painted collage, textured surfaces and Kintsugi-inspired repair to suggest excavation, renewal and impermanence. 

References to weathered stone, temporary crop circles and hidden ley lines emerging and disappearing within the surface, invite the viewer to slow down and observe. The work reflects on the fragile relationship between people and place, encouraging us to tread lightly through the landscape that holds stories far older than ourselves.
