Tara Parker-Woolway
‘Watching the Days Arrive’ explores the feeling of being out in the landscape, taking in the colours, sights and sounds. I walk most days on The Ridgeway; the highest point for miles around, crowned with beech copses running like horses manes across the tops of the chalky downs. Rather than being a specific location, I paint a memory of a place, fleeting recollections of views. When using oil paint and cold wax I work in thin layers of buttery soft colour, wiping colour across the paper, encouraging areas of colour mixing and blending. Cold wax adds body, transparency and depth to the paint.
