Anya Medlin
Breath of Spring depicts a silent moment in dawn light and mist, standing on the edges of West Woods where a scattering of gnarled ancient oaks remain along the Wansdyke. My work is all about reconnecting the human spirit back to nature and this image inspired a poem about that process.
THE BREATH OF SPRING
I am not the same as when I entered here
My consciousness carries new arrangements
A leaf where doubt used to spiral in a breeze
A beam of light where once, fear seemed brighter.
The forest offers horizons
Far beyond where the eyes can travel
As you stand silent, caught
In the quiet breath of Spring.
