Beck Thorley-Fox
This piece was painted in the Spring near an old hill fort. The Hawthorn and bluebells were in full bloom which transformed the scene into a stunning colour scape, with the weather and light perfect, the day had a dreamlike quality.
I was struck by the light shining through the Hawthorn blossom, I was discovering hues I hadn’t painted before, I found lemon yellow was called for to achieve that subtle green glow. The colour temperature warmed as the sun shone against the higher branch whilst the sky could be seen reflected on the blooms in the lower branch.
