Series of Coral forms, this being the seventh in the series.
This is a hand-built porcelain ceramic using very thin slabs and incorporates dry glaze. On the second firing Jo added glazes with silicon carbide to produce the volcanic texture. Glass has been melted into the base.
Jo studied both O and A level art (ceramics side only) but only managed to return to clay 40 years later.
Jo has been making again for three years and exhibited (and sold) work through a small gallery in London. Most pieces are purely sculptural, rather than functional, but the coral series is unusual in that they could be used as flower vases.
