John Lafford
John followed a formal course of study to learn to paint, and went on to study the history of painting, and the paintings in all the major galleries of the world. John’s early works were executed in oils, copying the works of the masters – Rembrandt and Titian. His aim has been to accurately represent the texture of skin, hair and materials – silk, fur, feathers, felt, tweed, polished leather, glass, wood and canvas.
John has painted a wide range of subjects, starting with portraits, but also including still life, animals, landscapes, buildings, flowers, ships and aircraft.
John has worked in oils, watercolours, acrylics and panpastel, selecting the most appropriate medium to suit the subject.
