Rebecca Carrozza
"This lovely little honesty shop sits at the end of the farm track which I often walk with my dogs and/or my family. I cherish these places, where home grown produce is generously and lovingly offered. The trust in the good of human nature that these local producers demonstrate warms my heart. The rustic natural feel of this particular place really appeals to me, not twee, just itself."
Rebecca is an artist who paints with instinct, speed and lived experience to create sensitive, vibrant oil paintings and mixed media sketches that tell stories through place. She values hands -on, analogue processes and describes sketching from life as going to the “visual gym”—a practice that sharpens observation and deepens connection to a subject. Rebecca often sketches during everyday moments and uses her car as a warm winter studio. Experimentation and a personal relationship with materials sit at the heart of her approach.
Having painted since childhood and Rebecca has always intended to pursue an artistic career. After nearly twenty years as a graphic designer, she recently shifted to painting full time, encouraged by the experience working on a large scale oil painting ‘The Springline Project’, in collaboration with artist Anna Dillon and a voluntary redundancy.
