An expressive oil painting capturing the rich colours, textures and rhythm of a traditional fish market display. Layered brushwork and a restrained palette emphasis the freshness and tactile quality of the fish, transforming an everyday subject into a study of light, pattern and form.

Keshani Douglas is a Wiltshire based artist who was born in London. Her focus lies in painting interesting locations and situations also Paper art.

Having grown up in an artistic background Keshani is a self taught artist who has been lucky enough to understand art as second nature. Keshani is greatly influenced by her late grandfather, Harold Philip Matthews who had been Head of Department of Fine Arts at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, London for many years and involved with famous Euston Road group of artists.

Keshani enjoys working in soft pastels, pencils and inks where she can focus on colour, movement and vibrancy for a more in depth result. She also loves to work with oils as well as acrylic paints. Her work can be impressionistic and also abstract. It is important for her artwork to be bold and lively. Keshani’s compositions often blur the lines between abstraction and realism allowing her to build worlds around the subject of her drawing.

Keshani works not only from her studio based in Wiltshire but also her studio based on the island of Gozo, near Malta where she travels frequently throughout the year. She is greatly inspired by the different locations because they provide different colours, shapes, textures and light.

Keshani has exhibited in the Royal Academy (RA) Summer Exhibition,(sold) The Pastel Society Annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London, (sold) the Royal West of England (RWA) Annual Exhibition, and Paper Works Biennial exhibition, Bristol.

Also The Russell Gallery, Putney (sold) and Green and Stone Gallery, Fulham Rd. Her work featured on The Madam Blanc Mysteries, filmed on Gozo in 2022. She has been filmed by Malta TV with reference to her solo show. She is a RWA Artist Network Member and a member of the Malta Art Society.
