"A contemporary figurative oil painter working from life, my practice centres on loose en-plein-air landscapes as well as studio still-life paintings. By pushing the boundaries of colour, I seek to express the deep emotional connection I feel toward the places I paint."
"After earning a first-class degree in Fine Art, I went on to build a career as a children’s book designer and art director for an Oxford publisher. Currently dividing my time between West Dorset and the Cotswolds, my work is heavily inspired by my travels. Having dedicated years to refining my craft through advanced training, I am proud to be joining the Hugo Grenville School of Painting next year to help teach their specialised colour courses."
"I painted this small panel en plein air during a hot summer session on West Dorset’s Eggardon Hill. To lead the eye over the hills and toward the Jurassic Coast, I positioned myself in the shade of a tree facing a downhill track. Rather than capturing the landscape's early summer greenery, I chose to paint a dreamy premonition of the parched, bleached terrain it would become after subsequent heatwaves."
