Bob Rudd: A Life In Colour

5 June - 17 July 2026

Our highly anticipated exhibition of  watercolours by Wiltshire-based artist Bob Rudd will open this June. Presenting a striking collection of landscapes from across Great Britain, the show will span the Highlands of Scotland to the Cornish coast, with views closer to home including Avebury and Bath.

Born in East Anglia, Rudd studied at the Bath Academy of Art (1969–1973) before settling in the West Country. His work reflects a deep engagement with landscape and architecture, shaped by both direct experience and the influence of artists such as Samuel Palmer, John Piper, and Graham Sutherland.

Working in transparent watercolour, often on a large scale, Rudd explores the medium’s expressive potential. His paintings balance controlled passages with spontaneous, gestural marks, where realistic elements meet areas of abstraction.

Colour remains central to Rudd's practice. Rather than recording a fixed moment, his palette reflects an intuitive response to place, capturing the shifting drama of light, weather, and atmosphere.
