This oil-based pencil drawing depicts the narcissism of man kind in all in its glory. I have used bold rich colours to symbolise decadence. The peacock represents the vanity of mankind and the way he is positioned on top of the world like he is sitting centre stage reading a book about himself represents the feeling of the world revolving around oneself. I chose to include a green peacock as these beautiful creatures are currently endangered so this piece also highlights that we must move past anthropocentrism to prevent the destruction of natural habitats.
