This small oil on panel is from a series I recently painted after a walk in the Highlands. Descending into the trees, after a day on the moor high up above the valley, and now surrounded by the welcome cooler dappled shade amongst the ferns and fluttering birches. The change in landscape, from the far-reaching views across the exposed moor above the treeline, made me pause to observe and enjoy the delicate energy and gentle movement amongst these slender trees.
