Marit Taylor
Marit Taylor is a Wiltshire-based artist and stone carver whose work is inspired by nature, colour, pattern and the beauty found in the natural world. Working primarily in colour pencil and stone, she creates pieces that explore shape, rhythm, texture and form.
Her drawings are characterised by strong colour, intricate pattern and a distinctive geometric quality, while her sculpture takes a more tactile approach, allowing the natural character of the stone to influence the finished piece. Across both disciplines, Marit’s work reflects a love of craftsmanship, detail and the process of creating by hand.
'Golden Pond' is a vibrant colour pencil drawing inspired by the movement and pattern of fish beneath the water. A shoal of individually patterned golden fish weave around one another against a rich green background, creating a lively interplay of colour, rhythm and form.
