This painting was done ‘en plein air’ at Great Chalfield Manor gardens. I was mainly inspired by the colours of the border against the stone wall, using the mauve foliage, the turquoise, deep purples, pinks and the orange poppies. I was wanting to create an impressionistic atmosphere.
