British sculptor Michael Thacker creates distinctive abstract works in local limestone, often enhanced with 24-carat hand-beaten gold leaf to reflect light dramatically.
After studying Fine Art at Loughborough University and stone masonry at York College, he worked for 15 years at Lincoln Cathedral. Now a full-time sculptor, his work has been widely exhibited across the UK, including the Chelsea Flower Show and London Art Fair.
Thacker’s practice combines technical mastery with architectural influence, evident in his geometric forms. Inspired by natural elements like seedpods and fossils, his sculptures explore growth and emergence, contrasting polished structures with raw, organic textures.
