Invitation To Sit’ is an en plein air painting made during Dorset Art Weeks when I was exhibiting my paintings at the pretty venue of Coombe Keynes Church. This bench is half way between the church gate and front door, and, literally, invites a nice place to sit during a visit, which many did. I wanted to capture the friendly welcome we hoped was conveyed when people came to visit our Open Studio, which I shared with three fellow artists and friends.
